U15 C v The Leys

Result: Won 20-12
Review: The U15 C netball team had a convincing win against the Leys. Some of the best teamwork this season was on display, with Annabel Percy playing a key role as centre. The girls took a while to warm up and settle into their positions. Ellen Welsh surprised herself by playing Goal Attack in the first quarter and scoring two goals. Her grasp of the ball was good and she positioned herself well beside the net. Sophia Arthen worked well with her to score another six goals so that after 10 minutes, we were winning 8-1. In the second quarter, the Leys began to fight back but Franca Lienke was everywhere as GD, intercepting their passes and moving the ball out of their D. She should be commended for playing this standard of netball after only seven weeks in the sport. At half time, we were comfortably ahead 11-4. A slight change of defence at half time increased our lead because Georgia Rowe and Genvieve Guest made an impressive pairing in the circle. They exploited free passes and didn't let The Leys get many chances at the net. As the final quarter ran in, our girls fought through the tiredness and kept the passes swift and short. Millie Scarborough played excellently as always at WD and together with Jizi Wu in WA moved the ball up the court to our net. Their jumping to catch the ball meant that the Leys lost a few chances and their spatial awareness contributed to the commendable win, 20-12. The girls have really improved this season and their marking today was so good that they really deserved this win.

U15 C v Culford

Result: Won 25-15
Review: The U15C netball team had a successful day at Culford, with their biggest win of the season. The team, captained by Genevieve Guest, began the attack well in the first quarter as they made a break a few minutes into the match. The spatial awareness of the girls meant that the ball kept getting into the D and the shooting of Eloise Kingland and Sophia Arthen improved to the extent that we were 7-4 up. In the second quarter Jizi Wu and Millie Scarborough made an excellent pairing in the centre third which meant that Culford often had the ball snatched away from them. Sophia Arthen used her height to advantage, and by half time, we were winning 15-6. Culford came back more strongly in the second half and began to catch up. Their passing was swift and they scored seven goals in quick succession. Felsted responded to the challenge and managed to regain their attacking focus. Genevieve played well as GK and succeeded in making several defensive interceptions. Anabelle Percy used her speed to move the ball quickly into our D and by the end of the match, we had won 25-15. All the girls played well and the teamwork improved throughout. Special mention should go to Jizi Wu who used the space excellently and was a key player in moving the ball into the goal third.

U15 A v The Perse

Result: Lost 31-8

Match report: During the first quarter the Felsted side moved the ball swiftly through the court with some great feeds into the circle from Olivia Schwier and Izzy Moore. However, unfortunately, The Perse quickly warmed up and they became hard to overcome. They had a fantastic GA, who we later found out had just been selected for the England U17 side at just 14 years of age! She was exceptional; our defence consisting of Emily O'Connor and Annabel Dines, worked extremely hard until the final whistle, but they were just unable to stop this side attacking the circle and shooting from every angle. In terms of experience, it was great for Felsted to be stretched against such a side and I hope that they came away inspired by what they saw and excited about how they can progress as a team.

U15 v Stamford/Kimbolton

Result: Kimbolton: Lost 14-8, Stamford: Won 10-6

Review: The U15 C Netball team played their best netball of the season on Saturday. Their passing was fast passed and accurate, and the match was a joy to watch. At the end of the second third, the score was very tight at 6-6. Sophia Arthen and Tabby Temporal used clever strategies to make space in the D despite some expert defending from Kimbolton.
Milly Scarborough played amazingly well, as she continued to make defensive interceptions throughout the game. She never dropped the ball and reversed the direction of play several times. She won the well deserved lady of the match. Unfortunately, in the final third, we lost our stamina and Kimbolton managed to pull ahead to win 14-8.
Nevertheless, the girls played some excellent netball and should be very proud of their teamwork and obvious improvement since the beginning of the season.

The second match of the day was against Stamford. Annabelle Persie came on as WA and immediately made her presence felt by using the space and getting the ball into the D very quickly. The play improved and the teams seemed to be evenly matched. Ellie Welsh was everywhere as centre and played a pivotal role in the success of the match. By the end of the first half, the score was 4-3 to Felsted. Felsted managed to keep fighting despite some excellent attacking play from Stamford. Genevieve Guest was an excellent Goal Keeper and prevented several shots from going in. The girls were determined to win, and they did, with a final score of 10-6. The winning drive was evident in the fast-paced play and teamwork. A well deserved win!

U15 C/B v Haileybury

Result: U15 C  Won 20-5

Match report: On Saturday Felsted U15 C team had their first win of the season.
The centre play was good and Tabby Temporal was solid as Goal Attack, always making use of the space and scoring the majority of her shots. With some good coaching from Ellie Welsh the team managed to keep in front despite Haileybury fighting back valiantly.  Emma Sweeney played a key role in keeping them from scoring goals as GK. She never let the shooter have a second chance because she seized the ball so fast. Millie Scarborough also played excellently as Wing Defence, intercepting several of their centre passes and marking her attacker to such an extent that she began to lose heart. Because of her pivotal play, Millie won player of the match. The Felsted girls worked more and more as a team, and this culminated in a win of 20-5, the goals all scored by Tabby Temporal and Eloise Kingsland.

Star Player: Millie Scarborough

Result: U15 B  Won 21-13

Review: The U15B team played Haileybury and won their first match 21-13. The whole team excelled, playing really well but special mention to Jasmine Moore and Tabby Kendrick working well together in the defence.

U15 A/B/C/D v Framlingham

U15 A
Result: Lost 15-8
Match report: It was a tough game played in difficult windy conditions and by the 2nd quarter Felsted had fallen behind with a score of 6-3. Felsted stayed in contention for the majority of the match but Framlingham proved clinical in the final quarter as they got ahead and earned an 8-15 victory.  Player of the match was Emily O'Connor for her outstanding defending and perseverance.

U15 B
Result: Lost 10-25
Match report: The U15 B team played Framlingham on saturday, having trained hard all week the team improved greatly but couldn't grasp the win! The score was 10-25. Well done girls!
Star Player: Annabel Dines and Phoebe Coulson

U15 C
Result: Lost 18-4
Review: The U15 C team had a tough match against Framlingham. We had conceded five goals in the first quarter and this threatened our confidence slightly. However, Georgia Rowe as WD made some great interceptions and Katie Lewis (GK) performed magnificently throughout the game as she prevented several goals from being scored. When Ellie Welsh came on as centre, she really utilised the space and Felsted had a lot more possession. The passing was great and resulted in three goals from Sophia Arthen. Shona Glover fought hard to press the attack but Framlingham were rather strong and scored several more goals. The team pulled together and there was some excellent play near the end of the match but unfortunately the game could not be retrieved

U15 D
Result: Won 20-8
Match report:The U15 D team had the only victory of the U15 squad against Framlingham. They played to win and made a great improvement throughout the game. The first quarter was a wake-up call as we ended it 5-3 down. Genevieve Guest made some excellent defensive intercepts as GK, which helped to threaten the confidence of their Goal Shooter. In the second quarter, the attacking pair of Eloise Kingsland and Shona Glover contributed to five goals.  Eloise had an excellent spatial awareness and used this to great advantage in the circle. Luca Goder (GD) stuck to her attacker like glue and made some great defensive clearances. In the second half, Felsted began to shine. With Jessy Wu (WA) using all the space of the centre, the ball made its way into the goal another seven times (thanks to some great shots from Shona Glover). She worked really well with Isabelle Lowe (C) and this pairing meant that Framlingham did not have much ball possession. Franca Lienke as GD and Genevieve fought hard in the Framlingham D and by the end of the match, we had only conceded eight goals. The girls worked really well as a team and it was a delight to watch such
good netball.
